recent security cases

During recent months, Insite Patrols have had some significant successes in the apprehension of a number of criminals around the district.

Case 1Handcuffs

Recently a farmer from Matakana was having persistent thefts of petrol from a large petrol tank and bowser situated in a remote part of his property. All of the thefts were taking place in the early hours of the morning and the thieves were even taking along dog food in order to keep the resident farm dog quiet!

Following a consultation with Insite Security, we installed a concealed Infra Red, Day/Night camera and within a short period of time identified for the Warkworth Police a group of known criminals who were carrying out these thefts. 4 local men are now appearing on 4 charges of burglary each.

FingerprintCase 2

Last week a suspicious vehicle containing 3 men was noted & followed in from Ti Point by one of the Insite Response Patrols. Police assistance was requested when the vehicle began driving dangerously along Matakana Rd and after a short chase the vehicle and occupants were finally stopped out the back of Woodcocks Rd.

The 3 occupants were later charged with; theft of this vehicle, theft of another vehicle (that was subsequently set on fire in Snells Beach over the previous weekend) and also a number of other theft charges relating to cars being broken into that were parked overnight at the Omaha Boat Ramp (the weekend of July 16 & 17) If your vehicle was broken into while parked at the Boat Ramp during this period, it may be worth giving the Warkworth Police a call?

Case 3Break In

One evening last week, a distraught lady Resident from the Northern end of Omaha Beach contacted Insite after a group of youths in two vehicles had thoroughly terrorised her and her two daughters outside of their home.

Evidently a lot foul language, punctuated with the waving around of a baseball bat (not surprisingly!) led this family to have significant fears for their personal safety.

Within minutes of this incident occurring, two of our Patrols cornered the offenders as they were about to drive off from the Pohutakawa Café. A baseball bat was recovered from one vehicle and the names and addresses of the offenders have been passed onto local Police for follow-up.

The Rodney District is a great place to live and we are fortunate that our local Police force manages to do such a fantastic job out there even with their sometimes limited resources. We need to keep Rodney the sort of community where the 'Rat Bags' can't get a foothold established in our towns and surrounds. If you see suspicious activity, please report it immediately to the Police or perhaps give us a call if you think we might be able to help?
